Local officials are reporting that the main tourism facilities of the Los Cabos region (including San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas) were relatively unscathed by the passing winds, rain and high waves produced by Hurricane Jimena, which tore through the area during the early part of the week.
The San Jose del Cabo International Airport (SJD) and the Port of Los Cabos have re-opened and all of the area’s hotels and resorts are fully operational. In addition, most of the restaurants, bars and other attractions (including sport-fishing trips, golf courses, ATV tours, etc.) are open and ready to receive guests.
The National Hurricane Center downgraded Hurricane Jimena to Category 2 status overnight as it pulled away from Los Cabos and continued moving toward the northwest along the coast of Mexico’s Baja California.
The Los Cabos 10-day forecast shows a bit of clouds and rain for the next couple of days, then a return to the ever-present sunshine that has helped make the region one of Mexico’s most popular destinations.
