Alain St. Ange, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board and eTurboNews ambassador, accompanied by his Deputy CEO Elsia Grandcourt and Tourism Consultant Glynn Burridge addressed a gathering of the Seychelles Young Leaders Program last Friday at the National Institute of Education.

Mr. St. Ange lectured for over one hour on the subject of “Seychelles Tourism: Past, Present, and Future,” providing comprehensive coverage of the industry for the 23 potential young leaders in attendance from this special President’s program.

Mr. St. Ange took the audience on a historical tour of the industry, which will celebrate its 40th official anniversary on July 4, 2011, passing comment on the original Seychelles Carnival of that time, before explaining the current philosophy of Seychelles Tourism and the way it is meeting its various challenges and targets and then mapping out the possible future direction of the industry.

After Mr. St. Ange’s presentation, the audience was sufficiently motivated to pose several questions to the Tourism Board team regarding different aspects of the industry which covered such areas as security, domestic tourism, and the importance of the cruise ship industry to Seychelles’ tourism.

The Seychelles Tourism Board believes in its mission to help ensure that the Seychellois are fully updated on the importance of tourism, the industry that remains the pillar of the Seychelles economy.

Time was made in the lecture to talk about the “Seychelles brand” of tourism launched by President James Michel last year and on the need for the people of Seychelles to claim back their industry for the continued consolidation of the Seychelles Tourism Industry. Mr. Alain St. Ange finished his lecture by taking the young leaders through the development of the “Tourism Master Plan,” which will become the guiding document for tourism development in Seychelles and which should push forward the concept that Seychelles should become a country promoting “ease of doing business” as its mission statement.
