Bad news for travelers in the United States, and a caution for tourists visiting the US. Have your flu shot before arriving or traveling. The US Centers for Disease Control is reporting a major spike in flu cases this week.
Twenty five US states are now reporting widespread flu outbreaks, up from 10 just last week.
Two children also died this week from the flu, bringing the total number of flu-associated pediatric deaths to six.
This strain is hitting the young and middle-aged especially hard.

The flu first took off in the south, hitting Texas and Mississippi before Thanksgiving, and is now moving into the Southeast and the West.
